Do they do prostate exams on male surgical patients? If not, why not?

Sibyl L Given the current laws, I guess they could. On the other hand, why would a guy want shove his finger up some random dude's butt?

Steve Johnson well, let's see -- if the young doctors in question were doing a urology rotation, there's your reason. Unless you're implying that there's some other reason to do invasive exams on unconscious patients?

Sibyl L I'm actually agreeing with you. I think the state of teaching hospitals still has some sexist carryover from bygone generations, and that they don't apply the same liberties with male patients.
