This just so happens to be one of the best arguments for a free and open internet that I've seen in a while. Calling the FCC to task and insisting that the web be treated as a commodity, the reason is sound: one of the most important mediums in the history of Man (capital M) can't be left to self regulation by the very people who profit from it. http://mobile.theverge.com/2014/2/25/5431382/the-internet-is-fucked

This is my new nephew born of C Section about an hour ago. His father, my youngest brother, is a first time dad as of today. The mother (a girl I've never met) was having blood pressure issues thus necessesitating the surgery. The baby, Gavin Richard 'ON', is having lung problems and is on oxygen as well as an IV. He is about 10 days early. I don't know what sort of 'lung issues.' I'm getting all my info either on SMS, MMS or email and so far everyone's being vague. He is in Tampa, FL.

I have a neighbor who is exceptionally annoying. She and he girlfriend have a cloud of smoke all over the neighborhood, they toss garbage around and argue so loud and often, they can be heard through their walls, across the sidewalk and through our walls. She just came over, knocked and asked for help. She has a flat tire. Naturally, since I hate women (according to feminists), I just went out there in the cold and dark to change her tire for her. Why? Because when people need help, I help. That's just who I am.

I've ranted about social media etiquette in the past, talked about people who comment then block, preventing dissenting opinions from being heard; talked about people who limit comments to only their trusty sycophants and talked about people who play the victim i an effort to garner wide appeal. I mean, who doesn't want to feel sorry for a victim, right? Today's conversation takes the bacon. Yesterday -- yes, today's conversation started yesterday --  +Gail Grimm  posted a Public (this will be important later) post calling out a self described intolerant christian. She didn't tag him into the post she created about him, merely created the post and waited for all the people who have her circled to come in and agree. I was one of those people. I mean, let's face it, the guy's an ass. Then I went on to state pretty clearly, I might add, that even though the guy's an ass his premise isn't entirely wrong

Malibu

A man walks into a Costco. While sampling foodstuffs he comes upon a vendor sampling "Malibu Burgers" and he decides to take a bite, having seen them in the coolers for a while but not quite knowing what they were. It's tasteless and nothing special. For some reason he was under the assumption the Malibu Burger would have fruit, perhaps pineapple, in the patty. Instead, it was bland. He says to the woman behind the booth, "Oh, I've been wanting to try these. I didn't know it was a veggie patty. I thought it would have fruit or something in it."  The lady responds, "Well, I think it's supposed to be from Hawai'i. All those people are vegetarians." The man couldn't believe she said that. Not only is it extremely generic of her to claim everyone in Hawai'i is a vegetarian, but she also failed to understand where Malibu was located. So the man pointed it out, "Actually, Malibu is in California." The woman look

While we all lament Russia's anti-gay propaganda policies during this winter Olympics, let us not forget the states within this union which are near or in accordance with Russia's laws. Does anyone else see the hilarity of comparing conservative states with Putin's Russia? Rufus and the Coyotes

Took Rufus and Charlie to the dog park yesterday. It was a barren wasteland of cold, cold and more cold. With temperatures ranging from 0°-1° Fahrenheit in the middle of the day, not many people took their canine companions out for a romp at the park. In the (somewhere near) 200 acres at this dog park we passed only three other people, with four cars in the parking lot. It's not always a bad thing being alone at the dog park. It can sometimes be cathartic to stuff my phone in my pocket and just be  without having to answer to someone, entertain another or be at the beck and call of metal wrapped in plastic. So there we were, walking along minding our own business; me with my hands in gloves stuffed in my pockets, beanie cap constantly trying to free itself from my head, heavy coat buttoned up over a turtleneck sweater and heavy boots (rated to -40°) to trundle through the snow and polarized sunglasses to protect me from the blinding glare. The dogs, especially Charlie, having t

Sadly, it was also a reminder that some people who deserve to be remembered aren't added to the history books and don't have specials on the History Channel.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Fields

Cycloramic for iOS

Great new app, unfortunately it's for iPhones only. My version of Android can't even get Photosphere  as I'm still on 4.1.2. However, if you have an iDevice and $1.99, this looks like a fun app to grab, especially for those of you who are travelers and like to share your experiences.

That was surprisingly fun. I happen to enjoy doo wop and as a result I really enjoyed this take on Timber.

In the east we have The Dragon , in the west there is apparently a snake. I've never ridden either of these routes but have ridden my fair share of twisty mountain roads. In Colorado, the most dangerous road I've ridden is Coal Creek Canyon. I know a lot of riders like it but the numerous back-to-back switchbacks at steep grades just force me to go slower than other riders would like. http://www.wired.com/autopia/2014/02/mulholland-the-snake/

Rufus is 9 and while he's slown down a bit, he's still ready to go outside or to the dog park at the drop of a dime.
