Read this earlier today. I remember that day, or at least the shuttle launch that day. For me, it was the fifth grade and living so close to Cape Canaveral we could always stand outside and watch the shuttles launch. On this particular day our teacher said shuttle launches had become so common she didn't feel the need to let us out to watch. Minutes later an announcement came over the loudspeaker telling us what had happened and we all rushed out the door and looked north. First daytime shuttle launch I didn't see live. This is an amazing article that everyone (in the United States should be forced to read, especially if you believe the criminal justice system is infallible. Over the years I've read bits and pieces of things that made it into this article, such as eyewitness testimony reliability, forensics, prosecutorial and police misconduct as well as many others. In fact, about the only new information I found in this article was the section on juries. This is why I can't support the death penalty and why I always give the benefit of the doubt to the defendant.
