Hammered

Ordered this book (from the library, or course). Read the first two and while he's no Harry Dresden, Atticus O'Sullivan is a likable enough Druid. What really makes the books, though, is his relationship with his dog.

Just ordered this (from the library). Should be here on Tuesday. I haven't had a book in weeks. I can't wait!

Last Weekend's Last Minute Ride

Last Saturday I wasn't supposed to ride, I was supposed to meet some photographers for s sunrise shoot up near Rocky Mountain National Park. That didn't happen. even though my alarm clock was set for 4am I didn't rise until 6:30am due to sleeping through the annoying rooster noise I set to wake me up. No matter how fast I rode the bike there was no way I could make it more than 90 miles in 10 minutes or less. It just wasn't happening. So, at the urging of a friend I met up with some other riders at MoCo for a last minute ride. I didn't know their route and I didn't know but two other riders when I arrived at the staging location.  Anywho, we met up, we talked shit to each other and then we took off. It wasn't a very exciting ride and one rider really annoyed me to no end. When turning onto Squaw Pass from 74 the light turned yellow and then red before the last four of us could make it through. There was one rider ahead of me and two behind. I never learned t

Anyone else having problems with Google Maps? Or is it just me? I swear, GMaps is so frustrating to use I just want to chuck my laptop through the window, then pick up the pieces and slam them on the ground over and over again like some primitive ape who can't get an iPad to show pictures of little kittens. So, I used the MyTracks app on my phone to record a motorcycle ride I went on last weekend. When all was said and done, though, I forgot to restart the recording while we were stopped for lunch. The Map I'm Working on: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=216178225411704579963.0004adb5aed0cfa588af0&msa=0&ll=39.673899,-105.398026&spn=0.320801,0.633774 Here's the first Map: So, I go to add the additional route to the map: And then some sprucing up with the thumbtack instead of the pointy-balloon thing: Looks good, right? That's what you think. This is the fourth time I've done this and watch -- once I save and refresh:

UFOs are Out There

Image
UFO doesn't necessarily mean an alien intelligence it just means a flying object that is unidentifiable. However, there are some strange things going on all over the world and thanks to modern consumer grade technology we are able to capture more and more weird occurrences and share them for review by the world at large. I think this is a good thing. Have you seen anything weird out there? I have. A tiny tiny blip in the sky one day that I followed for about 20 minutes.

The good news was my new AVG Willow jacket came in. Woot! And  it was warm enough to ride over jacketless (which I don't like to do) and pick up the new jacket. But this story really starts last night. Last night I rode the SV about 10 miles to go help a friend out for a couple of hours. I'd ridden a few times throughout the day without any problems and I didn't have any last night either. Until it was time to leave. I jumped on the SV, turned the key and hit the START button. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Everything died. Fantastic. I was torn: do I call the roommate who I have had a rocky relationship with for the past couple of weeks or do I call some friends who I haven't talked to since June, but they live closer? I just needed a jump and then I could get home. I decided to try and run-start it myself. Sitting astride the saddle I Fred Flintstone'd the bike forward until I thought I was going fast enough to pop the clutch. Nogo. I noticed the side street was a slight

Just had my first cup of coffee in more than 20 years (damn, I'm getting old). Why 20 years? Growing up, my mother's side of the family drank coffee and I tried it once or twice (as we do when we see family doing something) and I didn't care for it. Some said it was my age and tastes, that I would grow to love it. When I went into the military everyone drank coffee. I tried it then, too. A sip or two. Nasty horrible stuff. However, I do like cappacinos and frappacinos. Who'd guess? The other day I tried a coffee (free) sample, dumped a lot of cream and sugar into it and it was passable -- sort of like a warm frappacino. Today I said what the hell and made a cup of Starbucks instant. Eeegads! This is why I don't drink coffee! This stuff is horrible! yeck! Oddly, they claim taste is related to smell and I love the aroma of brewing coffee. Who'd have thunk it?
