The #NFL is a joke.

The #NFL is a joke. A multi billion dollar joke but a joke all the same. Ran as nonprofit, they pay no taxes on those billions of dollars. They control their own destiny allowing spousal batterers, drugs and dozens of other crimes to go unchallenged and even covering many of them up. It's an entire industry based on the knowledge that you'll pay hard earned dollars to buy a shirt replica of someone who can't spell "NFL" but can catch a ball. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/01/the-nfl-wants-you-to-think-these-things-are-illegal/

Some great research and reference material in here. Originally shared by **** As it turns out, organizing the world’s information isn’t always profitable. Do you know what's not fun?

Do you know what's not fun? When you go to bed at 10:30 or so expecting to be asleep within a half hour (I have to read before I turn off the light) and the drunk neighbor comes over because she's lonely. Then she comes over again. And again and again. Now, before you ask: no, she is not attractive and no there's not enough alcohol in the world. I've mostly ignored it letting my roommate handle her but a few times my roommate called out, "Jason I need help. She won't leave." So, at 2:00, 2:30, 2:45, 3:30 and four o'clock, I've had to get up and go out to the front porch and tell this woman to leave. She does and then she's right back. Finally at 4:00 I called the police. They came and sent the woman home telling her it was 4am and too late/early for this behavior. It took about 20min after the police left for her to return and my roommate to step outside to have a cigarette . Now it's 5am and I have, collectively, about 20 minutes of sleep

The Jason Scale - A Category of Layers of Religious Belief

Image
Apparently there's a Richard Dawkins Religious Belief Scale. I'd never seen this scale before, but to be fair, I've never read Richard Dawkins' books. You see, I don't need someone else to explain to my why I'm an atheist - I already know. It's because I know there are no such things as gods. Per his scale, that would make me a Strong Atheist. Per my scale, that would make me a Gnostic Atheist. Stolen from someone on Google+ But, being who I am, I found fault with the Dawkins'   scale. So, I made my own. I'm going to call it The Jason Scale because, why not. I placed Fundamentalist with "Strong Theist" due to the single fact that anyone who considers themselves a strong believer in their god/s is probably also a strict adherent to the belief system set up by their religion. I added Gnostic, a word from ancient Greek meaning to know  as another position on the scale. gnostic "relating to knowledge," 1650s,

The 1966 Mustang was advertised in McRae, Georgia, in Telfair County. The Runions' daughters say no one has heard from the couple since Thursday morning. Their cellphones are now off and family members have not been able to ping the phones to find a location. The Runions' children filed a missing persons report Friday. Just trolled some woman I went to high school with on Facebook. She asked for people to pray for her brother, he needs heart surgery. I said, Sure, I'll pray to Satan for your brother.   She became mad and told me to ignore her posts if I didn't have anything nice to say. Then she called me a child and intolerant of her beliefs. Naturally, I offered my own rebuttal. Then I noticed she'd deleted my comment on her post. So, I comment again that praying didn't solve anything. In fact, history is filled with prayer not solving anything, just ask the holocaust victims, sex slaves, and starving children across the globe. She became even more mad. Told me to stop commenting on her posts to which I replied, she needed to stop asking for my prayers, then. Needless to say, we didn't resolve anything.

Ready For Some Punishment?

You know, I didn't have any problems with The Punisher movie from 2004  other than John Travolta's character and the kid gloves they had Frank Castle wear. The follow-up, Punisher: War Zone , wasn't a bad movie in itself, but the gratuitous violence might have put it just a little over the top. As for movies about lapsed good-guys meting out punishment , Denzel Washington's  Man on Fire  was a much better Punisher movie than either actual Punisher movie. Hell, even The Equalizer was a much better movie than either of the Punisher films. Today, I was perusing some movie website about Marvel movies and someone mentioned a Dirty Laundry Punisher featurette. So, I was off to YouTube to see what it was all about. At a little less than 11 minutes, it has Thomas Jane reprising his role as Frank Castle and Ron Perleman as a wheelchair bound store owner. And it's pretty good. A little darker than the 2004 Punisher movie but not as dark as War Zone. Take a look. I'

Because there isn't enough meat already?

Because there isn't enough meat already? Originally shared by Kate Savage Via Michael Swanson  At a remote research center on the Nebraska plains, scientists are using surgery and breeding techniques to re-engineer the farm animal to fit the needs of the 21st-century meat industry. The potential benefits are huge: animals that produce more offspring, yield more meat and cost less to raise. There are, however, some complications. Pigs are having many more piglets — up to 14, instead of the usual eight — but hundreds of those newborns, too frail or crowded to move, are being crushed each year when their mothers roll over. Cows, which normally bear one calf at a time, have been retooled to have twins and triplets, which often emerge weakened or deformed, dying in such numbers that even meat producers have been repulsed. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/01/20/dining/animal-welfare-at-risk-in-experiments-for-meat-industry.html?referrer

I was lucky enough to be given this but have no use for it currently so I'd like to pass it on to someone who will make good use of it. If you'd like me to post this to your home address, absolutely free of charge then reshare this post. Whoever has the most direct public reshares (i.e. whosever reshare is reshared the most) will win the watch. For free. No kidding. Happy New Year. #gwatchr #giveaway-greg

Another step in the escalation chain?

Another step in the escalation chain? For more than a decade libertarians have been telling themselves, and anyone who will listen, that the government is corrupt, that anything having to do with government is inherently evil. The GOP jumped on that bandwagon in the early 00s and now they have to deal with an in-house insurrection between Tea Party Republicans and more moderate mainstream Republicans. Then the Libertarians took to the borders in their so-called Minute Men mission to guard American from starving exhausted Mexicans. Now they're taking to the streets to confront lawlessness from the police. I believe, I truly do, that most police are good people. However, those good people are held back from any true reform of policing agencies by the Blue Line allowing bad behavior to rum amok. But this sort of behavior cannot end well. Some cops are already claiming cell phones and beverages are weapons and they have to defend themselves with deadly force (under the same misguided m

Well, that was less than fun. Right now I'm sitting at the Denver (Hampden Branch) Library under the pretense of getting some work done. You see, I don't have an office - I work from wherever is convenient. Sometimes it's here, sometimes it's another library and sometimes it's one of various coffee houses or sandwich shops near wherever I happen to be at the moment. Usually it's a library. This particular branch is incredibly noisy (from the staff, not the patrons), much more so than a library should be from what I can recall being taught in elementary school. Hell, as I sit here along the far north wall I can hear the staff on the other end of the building joking and laughing with one another. But I digress. On my way here I had to drive on a 6 lane highway. It's a state highway, not an interstate. I was in the far right lane and knew my turn was coming up in about a mile so I checked my mirrors and turned my blinker on so I could move over and mov

http://www.robotech.com/infopedia/mecha/viewmecha.php?id=65 When I was a kid Robotech was the greatest cartoon in the world. Seriously. Unlike more common fare like Transformers or He-Man, Robotech was a serial that followed Rick Hunter and humanity's first experiences with alien technology, space battles and giant transformable robots piloted by people. Each episode built on the previous episodes, each season a foundation for the next. People died, mistakes were made by leaders, romance, jealousy, treachery, you name it. Robotech was a new level of story for a ten year old kid. And it was awesome. F-14's that turned into giant robots protecting the Earth from alien invaders? How friggin cool is that? First there was Macross , then The Masters and then The New Generation . I can't recall specifically when they were introduced (The Masters or New Generation), but in the third Robotech War the heroes spent much of their time wearing mecha armor doubling as motorcycles in li

Okay, it's been a while since I've been in school.

Okay, it's been a while since I've been in school. In an accepted argument whether it be legal, scholarly, policy, etc, a person or party makes a claim (a hypothesis) and then provides the research, data, facts, resources, to back up their hypothesis. What's that called? There's a term for it but for the life of me I can't think of it right now.
