I wanted to post this earlier but had a hard time finding a copy of this video that didn't have a 30sec or longer commercial preempting it. Needless to say, be careful when verbally fighting with a cager. Even without words being shared I once had a truck try to run me off a cliff near Estes Park, CO because (and I can only assume) he didn't like me going faster than he was. Google keeps unbundling their apps: Photos from G+, Hangouts from G+, etc; but they keep shoving features into Maps - the, in my opinion, most convoluted service they have. Got a lousy password like 'password1?' Microsoft is going to ban it and many more

Over the years I've worked in a number of organizations, each position requiring the use age of numerous systems; each one of those with their own password requirements. And yes, employees run their passwords exactly in this manner. Maybe it's the name of their spouse or child, dog or the model of their favorite car, but then it's that plus a 123 . The next month it's the same, but 456 . Then 789 . Now imagine being required to change your password every month, or at the very least, every quarter. After a year or two the passwords are difficult and cumbersome, especially when they can't overlap or use previously used codes. Because of this, people tend to use simple passwords that are easy to remember without keeping a written copy in an easy to locate location. Good on Microsoft for trying to do something, anything, to address lackadaisical password security. Unfortunately, not everyone is a trained cybersecurity expert. http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/microsoft-pa

That electronic privacy thing?

That electronic privacy thing? Yeah, the FBI still wants to erase that idea from society. Don't worry, if they can't get the info they want from you, they can get it from your ISP, a server or service provider. The way everything's in the cloud now, the FBI - or any government agency, really - doesn't need to come after you or me personally. They can go after Google, Dropbox, Microsoft or Facebook directly, leaving you alone to pretend you have privacy because no one's knocking on your door. https://theintercept.com/2016/05/26/secret-text-in-senate-bill-would-give-fbi-warrantless-access-to-email-records/

If you haven't already heard, Marvel turned a newly rejuvenated Steve Rogers in to the ultimate Hydra sleeper agent.

If you haven't already heard, Marvel turned a newly rejuvenated Steve Rogers in to the ultimate Hydra sleeper agent. Naturally, the internet turned, well, into Mos Eisley Spaceport, as it often does when just about anything at all happens. Just as when Dr. Otto Octavius took the body of Peter Parker and proclaimed himself the Superior Spider-Man, the creative geniuses over at Marvel have altered Captain America's story and will, just like the Spider-Man arc, return the Star-Spangles Avenger back to his roots once the story has played out. Personally, I'm going with double-agent. But, as always, I may be wrong. We'll all see. In the mean time, let's forego the death threats. It's unbecoming and just a little juvenile considering Captain America is a real live fictional character. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/05/25/captain-america-writer-nick-spencer-gets-death-threats-on-social-media/

Donald Trump calls Hillary Clinton "corrupt.

Donald Trump calls Hillary Clinton "corrupt." Is this a case of takes one to know one or does he just not believe working with known mobsters is the very definition of corrupt? Originally shared by David Brin Does it concern you that Donald Trump has had extensively documented interactions with organized crime figures and a raft of “coincidental” benefits from mob-related construction companies and unions? Are you able to convince yourself that running a casino is just like operating any hotel? Or is it actually rather encouraging that he has been smart enough (very smart) to use sealed settlement to leave (so far) no indictable smoking guns? (Encouraging because if he were president – and awful – at least he’d likely be clever.) What’s clear is that the stunning hypocrisy of accusing Hillary Clinton of “corruption” is as delirious as an openly-bragging philandering, twice-divorced gambling lord attacking the morals of Bill Clinton. I'm a grizzly bear!

I'm a grizzly bear! The grizzly bear is one of Yellowstone's most infamous animals. They are known to be solitary, but sometimes gather in large groups to feed. Mother bears give birth in the spring, usually to twins, and are extremely protective of their cubs. Grizzlies may look adorable, but these predators are at the top of the food chain and can eat anything from berries to elk. Weighing in around 800 pounds, the grizzly bear is no sloth. This formidable giant can run up to 30 miles an hour. This is no surprise to me, to be honest. Seriously, Forbes? This attitude is part of the problem, not the solution.

Seriously, Forbes? This attitude is part of the problem, not the solution. Originally shared by Sarah Rios OVERTIME Dear Forbes, Do you want low employee moral? Because this is how you get low employee moral. There is an easy solution for companies that want to maintain the flexibility of the old rules without boosting pay up to the new threshold: Take your formerly salaried employees and pay them a lower wage, but guarantee pay for more than 40 hours, even if they actually work less. Paying workers for hours not worked is perfectly fine; it’s the other way around that gets an employer in trouble. Here’s how the arithmetic works. Suppose you have a salaried employee earning $24,000 a year. The new deal is to pay the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, and pay for a guaranteed 56 hours a week. For 2,080 hours a year (40 hours times 52 weeks), the straight time pay is $15,080. The additional hours (16 hours times 52 weeks) are paid at time-and-a-half, for $9,048. The employee earns $2

Well, that was a giant pain in the ass, Google Maps. I recorded a motorcycle route using (not MyTracks, curse you) GPS tracker and tried to share it to Google+. No bueno. Apparently, uploading to Drive and then trying to open doesn't actually work, on either Android or via the desktop interface without using a third party "viewer." In order to make a clickable/sharable (MyMap) I had to download the .kmz/l file to my desktop and import it into the MyMaps creator. Of all the features that seem like a no-brainer, this is one. I'm fairly certain most consumers need less of the tools to make custom maps in Maps and more basic functionality like sharing a .kmz/l file natively without the sharer having to jump through a bunch of hoops.

I like spooky movies.

I like spooky movies. The spookier the better, in my opinion, which is why it's disappointing for me to watch movies with overtly religious tones like this one or The Exorcist. As someone who is as far from Catholic, or any Abraham religion, as a human being can be, these sorts of movies that rely on religion-based fears don't really speak to me on any sort of level of fear. https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=6aHbq4gWVGI

Remember when AIM, ICQ and YIM were all the rage? Then social media came along with their chat boxes and finally instant messaging was dead. Or so we thought. As more and more people flocked to their Walls, Streams and Boards other flocked back to a more simple real-time text tool. And suddenly IM was back. And now it's getting smarter. Google will be rolling out an AI augmented chat service called Allo. Will it replace Hangouts which, in turn, replaced Talk? Or will Allo be another layer on top of the Android experience, working within Hangouts, Gmail and Now? http://www.cnet.com/news/allo-google-smart-messenger-app-ios-android/

A few thoughts on Spaces after the first 24 hours:

A few thoughts on Spaces after the first 24 hours: Did Google Alphabet really need another communication tool and can we trust to exist in 12 months? Just yesterday the folks over at Mountain View released a brand new app/web service called “Spaces,” found at spaces.google.com . Marketed as “small group sharing for everyone” and “Comic books, tiny homes, Paris trip, study group? Just one tap to make a Space about any topic” Spaces are supposed to be, well, spaces to have intimate discussions with only those who need to be involved with the discussion. Since its launch there have been plenty of questions regarding which need is Spaces suppose to be addressing. If we need immediate conversation with a small group of people, isn’t that what Hangouts are for? If we need long form discussions, don’t we already have Gmail? If we need space for limited conversations, can’t we already have those private discussions within Google+’s Circles? Some have surmised that Spaces is a direct take on S

Does anyone remember Circles? This is a really what set the movie above and beyond for me. The ambiguity. Who watches the Watchmen ? Who controls the nuclear bomb? I mean, we trust Captain America to do the right thing because he's Steve Rogers, the man who hates bullies and just wants the world to be safe. Those ideals were compounded with the super soldier serum which is why he was chosen over other, less moral, prospects. But what if it weren't Captain America? Would you support a registration and oversight of bad guys with super powers? What of Loki or the Abomination? Shouldn't they be watched or sent to prison? And yet, what if you agree that everyone should be tagged and tracked, subject to the will of an oversight panel? Then what stops politics from determining where you're sent? Stop ISIS in Syria? Sure. Stop the Arab Spring or Occupy Wall Street? Civil War was expertly done, although it (and every movie could have used more Spider-Man, especially the part where a bleeding Spider-Man is b

Amazing. Except they're not "dog tags," they're "ID tags." Dog tags are for dogs and Marines. Originally shared by Chris Kim A At the Harold Washington Library in Chicago is a new art installation called “Above and Beyond” featuring over 58,000 replica dog tags — one for each American soldier killed in the Vietnam War. The dog tags, each hung one inch apart, are suspended from the ceiling from a 410-square-foot rectangle. Each dog tag lists the soldier’s name, military branch and date of death.
