Today at the Dog Park

Image
Took Rufus and Charlie to the park today. Took the camera as well. Didn't get as many nice shots as I would've liked, but what're going to do?

Ruling Backs Palin’s Use of Private E-Mail for State Work - NYTimes.com

Ruling Backs Palin’s Use of Private E-Mail for State Work - NYTimes.com With the above ruling and previously with Colorado's courts deciding that use of private cell phones to conduct public business , it is perfectly legal without the ability for news organizations or FOIA to conduct public business on private technology without a venue for checks and balances. So, all we have to do is let all public figures get Gmail, Yahoo or AIM accounts for personal use, let them conduct business in direct relation to their elected office and the people have no recourse to know who, when or how long these conversations are taking place, nor the content of the conversations! Long live open government! Long live judges that do not believe in checks and balances or the rights of the people to know what their elected officials are doing!

TwitterGadget iGoogle Twitter Client: More Ways To Use TwitterGadget

TwitterGadget iGoogle Twitter Client: More Ways To Use TwitterGadget I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 (AMD64) and using this TwitterGadget on my Desktop is much easier than trying to use TweetDeck or Gwibber or anything of the other micro-blogging clients provided in the Software Suite. Try this. It's so easy, but you need to have Chrome for Linux installed first.

Google Small Biz Pages and Google Maps brings you the opportunity to update Google Maps with current relevant information regarding your business. Kind of like Twitter, but integrated into Google Maps for people searching your area or for your business. http://foxyurl.com/NZ9

Glide OS and Zohon

I've been using Zoho (www.zoho.com) for a while now to perform a lot of office suite type functions, but I recently found out about Glide OS (www.glideos.com) which offers some (not as many as Zoho, from what I can tell) services, but also offers free storage up to 30gigs, while Zoho and Google Docs in comparison offer a pittance.

Mess With the Less, Why Not the Best?

Okay, so hackers have been messing with political leaders from across the globe, giving them " digital black eyes ," as it were. But Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Really? Anyone who has been paying attention for 2 seconds, knows that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a figurehead and the real power in Iranian politics is their Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. So, hackers, if you're going to go after Iran, if you really want to piss off the Iranian leadership, please leave President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad alone and go after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps leadership: as can be found here .

Colbert Report

So, here I am watching the Colbert Report and I notice two things: 1 - the new HD is brought to us by T-Mobile . 2 - the Olympics segment is brought to us by Budweiser, Dr. Pepper and (ta da) Verizon Wireless . How in the heck did the Colbert Report get two competing wireless companies to sponsor the same show? Good for them. Is this one of those faux pas that's going to get some marketing mid-manager fired?
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126252276477713845.html? So, wait a minute! The Christians, Jews and Muslims all share the same god, but the Muslims in Malaysia don't want Christians using the word "Allah" anymore? A word that literally translates to "God?" Really? From what I gathered from the article, the Christians of Malaysia use and have used the word Allah ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allah ) for years and it's written into their Constitution that non-Muslims can use the term and yet now they're banning the use to appease radical Muslims? Really? Non-Muslims all over the world use the term "Allah," why is it such a big deal now? In Malaysia? Is a rose not a rose, by any other name? Is Abraham's god, not Abraham's god, no matter what he, she or it is referred to?

Christian Hate Speech

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/04/world/africa/04uganda.html? So, the Christians preach hate and then cry foul when they're labelled as the perpetrators of hate laws? Take heed, Joe Mainstreet. When you let religion direct your government and laws your results are just like this. We're seeing this in the middle of a process, but as the article states, some theocratic governments already have death penalties for homosexuals. Is this the America you want?

A little too much social networking?

http://foxyurl.com/Nuw <== Groom updates status while at the altar. http://foxyurl.com/Nux <== Escaped convict updates Facebook while on the run. Seriously people -- unplug! And be smart about when/where you're updating as well as what you're updating. We read all the time about people getting fired for changing their status' to "I hate my job," or "my boss is a moron." We hear regularly about arrests being made when people tweet their penchant for speeding, noting dates, times and speeds. Sometimes it's okay to talk to people in person; sometimes it's alright to meet people face-to-face. And sometimes it's okay to not let everyone know what you're up to. Too much of anything can be a bad thing whether it's Mickie D's, the MJ, water, or (I can't believe I'm saying this) sex. Too much letting everyone know what you're doing can be bad as well. Not only is it impolite, but it's disrespectful to either
