One minute you wake up and the next you're wondering WTF just happened here. That's what happened to me yesterday. Like most days I was going about my business not bothering anyone when Google (via Android on my phone) informed me there were some apps that were ready for updates. As I'm not one to have thousands of apps on my devices, and most of those being official "Google" apps, I went ahead and hit the button for "update all." A little later in the day I found myself in a place with no cellphone coverage. The receptionist even asked me if my carrier was T-Mobile when I mentioned something about having no service to my friend. Just received a software update from CyanogenOS (One+1) and now I have this stupid Google NOW info card on my home screen floating above everything in the most annoying manner possible. I tried to remove it via the Google search app's settings, but can't seem to find one called "Remove that Stupidly Intrusive Floating Widget" anywhere. All it seems to do is open the Google search app, so now instead of one tap to search I have an extra step which is just plain ridiculous. Does anyone know how to remove this silly thing? It's like every time Google updates Android these days I just want to quit Android and find something else that's not pushing features I'm not interested in having.

Going to the masses to ask this question. What's the best (ie: malware and virus free) file recovery software? I could have sworn I copied a folder from my SD card to laptop and then deleted the folder on the SD card, but when I went to add more files to the folder on my laptop the folder was empty. No bueno! One of my pet peeves, and I believe it's other people's pet peeve as well, is when someone posts a link to content they want to share, but instead of linking to that content, their link takes you to an intermediary site. For example, check out this YouTube video but the link they're sharing is to their blog where they embedded the video, or to their other social media site where they already shared the video. This annoys me when individuals do it and it annoys me when companies do it (I'm looking at you The Huffington Post​ and Examiner.com​) as a manner of bumping their site clicks, "likes" or plus-1s. Heinz Seijas​, recently posted such a post to his stream. With barely more than a link, he asks us to watch a YouTube video linked to through a message board. There's no discussion on the board, just a link to YouTube. When I brought up my distaste for such maneuvers he (1) told me it was no big deal then (2) I could uncircle him, if I saw fit. So, I took

Just removed myself from about a dozen communities. I feel a little lighter now.  Some of them didn't have new posts for years, apparently abandoned by their creators and others seemed overrun with childish "I'm in a [Product] Community, do you think this product is better than A, B, or C Products?" polls. Or the exact opposite: "I know this is a [Product/service] community, but do you really think it's better than [Competitor A, B and C]? Most of them, though, seem to be places specially designed for link dumping. I hate link dumping. If you can't figure out why your content isn't getting more discussion, it might be due to your link dumping. I've already unCircled dozens of people for nothing more than dropping links off, I certainly don't need to follow communities that encourage such behavior.  Link dumping annoys me to no end, if I didn't make that clear.  / #rant

It shouldn't matter that an ex-Marine is affected by the state's decision to close DMV's in it's poorest communities. It should matter that Alabama is doing everything it can to prevent, or at the very least, dissuade, black voters from being able to vote in their state.  It's very simple: make something mandatory then make meeting that obligation impossible. Let me get one thing clear, for those of you who paid attention to the debate last night. Bernie Sanders self-proclaimed himself to be a democratic socialist . Anderson Cooper and other media types, as well as Republicans, have been calling Bernie Sanders a plain ol' socialist for months now. Socialism is not a form of fascism or tyranny it is an economic structure, not a political one. Democratic socialism isn't socialism, but rather a more structured form of capitalism. One can refer to it as "regulated" capitalism. It short, democratic socialism means capitalism with democratic controls. Or, at least that's how political scientists define the term.  When Bernie Sanders talks about being a democratic socialist he's referring to his belief that capitalism shouldn't be unregulated, that pure capitalism is economic anarchy. He's claiming that the past 40 years of deregulation has hurt the American middle class for the benefit of the 1%.

I think I shared this law suit when I first read about it, but I can't really remember. Regardless, this lady sued her 8 year old nephew for being 8 years old. Yeah, you read that right: she sued her 8 year old nephew. Let's be fair, the nephew, in his excitement to see his aunt, ran up to hug her and knocked her over causing her to break her hand. "Such is life," one might say. But no, this woman decided to sue an 8 year old. She probably thought it was easy money, that the homeowner's insurance would pay out. Instead, she created a rift in her family and will hopefully be a local laughing stock. The question is: Should the Executive, with a pen and paper, force the public disclosure of dark money by federal contractors, thus bypassing Congress? And the answer is, in my opinion, a resounding yes . Congress would have a hard time overturning such an executive order and any future legislator or executive would be in a tight spot trying to justify their actions in overturning the EO.
