Let's have a contest!

Let's have a contest!  First : What do you win? Well, Timmy, you win (1) bragging rights and (2) your picture used as the new Community Profile picture.  YAY! Second : Huh? Let me explain, Sally. You, the entrant, will share an image with the community. It must, MUST , have something to do with motorcycle riding. Let's say, July 15th, the picture with the most +1s will get to be the new image until October 1 when we do this again. That is, of course, assuming we get any feedback on this what-so-ever. (Someone remind me as we get closer -- I'm likely to forget). Third : if your image is to be an entrant, tag it with #MRCProfile715 Yes, you can submit more than one. Yes, it must be uploaded to this community for consideration and yes it must be hashtagged appropriately. No, it doesn't matter which section you post the image in as long as the image is appropriate to the section. Yes, and this is absolute, you MUST have copyright over your image. While reading all the positive news about the SCotUS' decision on DOMA yesterday I completely forgot that Digg was supposed to release their Reader on the 26th.  I didn't get invited yet, but time is running short. While I wait I decided to give Flipboard another try and just like when it launched, the product just annoys me. I much prefer Google's own Currents over Flipboard for content. Then I decided to check out the much acclaimed Feed.ly. Wow. Suitably impressed. Everything was nice and easy and the customization was great. Digg's definitely got their work cut out for them if they have to meet these expectations. Still looking forward to Digg's foray into the world of RSS readers so hopefully that invite comes soon.

Here are some pictures from my camping trip of Guanella Pass week-or-so ago. I don't know the name of the mountain or the creek, so if you ask, I can't tell you. I also forgot to bring a tripod, so these images are during the day, not the golden or blue hours.  I did trudge through thigh deep freezing-ass water to get the pictures of the beaver dam and one of the images looks like gold in the water. I hope that particular image shows up good. There are more images -- lots more -- but I don't think my brother wants pictures of his niece all over the interwebz, especially since he doesn't own a computer or have internet access. Maybe I'll share one or two choice pictures of her once I get through all the ones from when she was here. Anywho, enjoy.

I am not the empathetic person in the world.

I am not the empathetic person in the world. I believe we must all live with the decisions we make, that emotions are a personal matter and shouldn't be involved in business or society and that there are over seven billion people on this planet, each and everyone with their own opinions, their own desires and their own perspective on the world. However, I'm not without empathy, I just don't let it control my thoughts.  The author of this piece uses the term "rational empathy" to describe people, like me, who use knowledge and reason to understand that of those  seven billion people out there, there are seven billion stories. Not all of those stories are the same as the other seven billion stories out there.  It would be nice if we were all raised in Pleasentville ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120789/ ) where there were no conflicts, where everyone's singular goal of making sure their position in society was meted out fairly and life was all around good. But l

You see, my niece was in town for nearly two weeks and from wake-up until bed-time I remained busy, busy, busy. Also, I spent a lot of time in the mountains and various areas that received little to no internet connection. Huh ?  What? That means it was nearly impossible for me to upload photos or anything else via mobile connection. But let's move on. I was recently perusing Streamzoo on my Note II and noticed a lot of people, especially younger people, claiming they will follow back if you start following them. Great! I was called a racist by a person here on Google+ because I said a stereotype wasn't racist. She posted an image of a old cartoon style box trap with a watermelon as bait that was titled something along the lines of  "how to catch the president." Yes, I said, it was a negative association designed to reinforce the (false) stereotype of black Americans and watermelons, but it wasn't racist. She blocked me even after I provided academic sources on racism, stereotypes and the false association of the stereotype. Racism is holding a belief that one race is superior to others or another for  no reason other than the race itself. Regardless of whether you agree with me or not, what Paula Deen said is incredibly racist. She believes the time when black Americans were subservient to white Americans is a time we should all try to emulate. She should lose her job with the Food Network and lose any and all corporate sponsorships. Free speech is a value we all hold as paramount t

Ed's Cantina in Estes Park, CO, A Jasonisms Review

390 East Elkhorn Ave. Estes Park, Colorado 80517 phone  970.586.2919      I've been to Ed's Cantina a handful of times over the years. Whenever my motorcycle group rides through Estes Park, this is the place we tend to stop and eat. Why? Parking is fair, location is easy and who doesn't like Mexican food? The food's never been great, but in a small town like Estes Park one can't be too choosey on ethnic dining. The service has never been great, but I've always stopped there with a large group (20+ bikes and riders) and just chalked it up to the mass wave of people coming in all at once. However, this past week changed all that. With my niece in town we headed up to Estes Park for lunch before entering Rocky Mountain National Park. We had our dogs with us (2) and walked along the river's sidewalk, first stopping at one restaurant and then another looking for outdoor seating where we could tie the dogs up outside the patio and sit near them as others
