This is where I give the obligatory speech: get a mutt from the pound as your family dog. Sure, some people want a specific breed for whatever propose, but it's generally because they believe the breed comes with a certain image or behavioral system they find attractive.

I've always been against dog shows such as the Kennel Clubs that promote physical attributes over the traits that make that breed that breed. For example, if your lab doesn't hunt or have the instinct to do so, is it really a lab? If your Golden Retriever doesn't retrieve, is it truly a retriever? These are the traits that should be valued by breeders, not physical characteristics: It looks like it can hunt. It looks intelligent.

Sorry, boy's and girls, there's no way for your IQ to be measured by how you look. And much like the human world, being good looking doesn't necessarily mean you're smart too.
