If the (American) federal government hadn't spent a decade getting secret warrants from secret judges without reasonable suspicion or filing charges then Apple, Google and others wouldn't have been pressured to encrypt data from government overreach.

The FBI, et al, fails to understand that, had they just played by the rules regarding warrants and judicial review, they wouldn't be in the mess they're in now. I applaud Apple, Google and others for their proactive response to illegal government encroachment on rights.

Microsoft, playing cosy with the NSA, does not get applause. They still suck.
Gee! TFB! Here's a simple answer to keep the gov out! Use the same algorithms they use! If your algorithms are based on cloud formation, it's the same or better than DOD standards.
It's of no use if the OS can't be trusted.
