Can Harley-Davidson place their woes solely at the feet of their aging customer-base or does the company take some of the blame due to management decisions?

I'll see if I can find it, but YouTube keeps recommending I watch some video about how millennials are destroying HD, as though Harley hasn't spent .ore time retaining long-haired "Rebel Without a Cause" rather than updating their lines to be more youth attracting.

Believe it not, Harley, that Vietnam War vet and that 25 year old don't want the same things.p

But... but... MILLENIALS! Obviously they're spending time eating tide pods instead of on motorcycles, as God intended!

Good riddance to noise pollution on wheels.

They did try with the Street rod, Eric Buel, acquisition of MV Agusta, Husqvarna, the creation of Street 750 and the XRG750, But the board of directors stuck to present money and not future money and they are so brainwashed by there own A Harley Cruzer is what everyone wants Marketing. The dealerships did not want to sell sub $7000 motorcycles. And being run by a bunch of staunch directors that know nothing of motorcycling other then what there own marketing tells them. They made bad decisions like buying and selling MV Agusta, Burning Eric Buel bridges with the sports crowd. and Flat track they seem to ignore and Indian is now kicking there ass. not everyone in the world wants a cruizer or now thinks a cruize needs to cost 30K plenty of other cruizers under 20K that run smoother and longer and cheaper plus meet euro5 emissions. The Harley eight is a great motor but still half-assed. I think its there own marketing screwed them most and short-sighted Board members.

"Millennials killing all the businesses that rely on discretionary income!" would probably be the right way to summarize all these articles.

They need another division to make that sort of bike, under a new brand. Like Disney did with Touchstone in the 80's. That way existing dealerships can still focus on the now, while new ones can aim for the future. I'll tell them, too. Just as soon as they ask me!
