The IRS is dragging it's butt because no one wants to be the guy who went after churches, especially when the sitting president is falsely accused of being a Muslim.

But, should the IRS be playing politics?

Best bet is to tax the heck out of churches on their wealth and property and let them be as political as they want to be.

There is no logical reason why religious organizations should have any special tax breaks.

But the claim, Anthony Zugaj, is that churches have a right to free speech. I say if you're claiming free speech as an organizational right, you have the right to pay taxes and deduct "charitable" works.

They give up the right to political speech and action as part of their right to claim tax privileges as a religious organization. That is the law in the US currently. I believe Anthony Zugaj is just suggesting that the law be enforced by the IRS.

I think they should enforce all laws equally but I wont hold my breath. Maybe they should revise the tax code and start holding some of these churches accountable for their fortunes.
