So, when did the government decide the Constitution had too many 'freedoms' written into it? What's wrong with getting a warrant? Yes, it's a hoop, but that hoop serves a purpose.

Indeed! Even if there is a need to secure the "grid" from foreign worms which science fiction suggests might bring down every electrical / electronic device invented since the turn of the last century (c. 1900), isn't there a way to do implement protective measures that do not compromise the basic cyberfreedoms of every Internet user on the planet? Shouldn't eCommerce have a say in this as well as every individual on the planet that advocates freedom of speech?

Millions of Americans have suffered, died and are still suffering to maintain these freedom's Leahy and others deviatley plan to strip away. He does not understand the importance of the technology so he fears it. If he succeeds he will go down in history as either an old fool, an enemy of the constitution or both.
