Just finished this book last night.

Just finished this book last night. I wasn't overly thrilled with it. The main protagonist, who we learn is in her mid-twenties and been on her own her entire life, seems a bit naive and her story is told to the reader instead of unfolding for the reader. I really prefer to be with the character as the story around the character unfolds.

There also didn't seem to be a whole lot of character development. Sure, skills were developed, but Myranda herself didn't develop.

The world creation seemed lacking as well. We're told of a 100 year war that these nations are fighting in, that all the villages are full of the elderly, and the infirm and yet these nations still have enough people to support a society that can support a everlasting war? Where do their food and grains come from? How do these nations continue to afford war when no one can work and put money into the economy?

It just didn't make sense.
