Why the government hasn't "smoked" them out yet, I don't know. It would be easy, cut off the power, internet and water then wait a few days. They'll be gone. Plus, arrest them as they leave the compound and stop letting support through. This could have been over weeks ago.

But Jason ON, that would deprive us of the entertainment value of watching them hang themselves with the rope they've been given!
"We're here for the natives" that road we made will be benefit them. Pants a fire

Bette Kauffman, true, but I'm a problem solver. ;)

I'm not sure why but it appears as if someone chose to allow them to embarrass themselves, show what a bunch of fools they are.

If the response had been immediate it could have quickly escalated to another Waco, which is probably what they intended. In that scenario, they would have been held up as heroes by other fools across America as the fairy tale of their righteous cause grew.

Ignoring them is an odd choice but, if it someday still ends badly with these idiots martyring themselves, these weeks of bad publicity will be remembered and no stories of righteous heroes will ever happen.

Jason ON I understand and so am I, but long experience has taught me that sometimes problems solve themselves better than I ever could!

It's simple. They're allowed to continue because they're making fools of themselves, and their "conservative" movement.

Keep it up yee hawdists, you're doing great!

The government hasn't taken action because these guys aren't actually a threat to anyone other than themselves. I'd rather have the current state of affairs rather than another Waco or Ruby Ridge - because the result of that would be more people gravitating to the libertarian/anti-government paradigm and that's not something we really need. The moment the government makes a move like that (outside of local law enforcement) the more you'll see this behavior as a response to "tyrannical" government power - which only gives them more credence. That's how this started in the 1990s and that's why we're still dealing with it now.

The longer the government lets this fester the harder it will get to deal with.

But, they're enough of a perceived threat that local children are scared and want them to leave. It's time to go home boys, mission failed.

I'm trying to see the part of my initial post where I said to send in the guns. If I recall correctly, I said turn off the power, the water and the internet. Those are all nonaggression tools to have these idiots give up quickly. By allowing the mail through, by keeping the water and heat on, these guys can hold their siege indefinitely and each day they do some other militant group will be encouraged to do it somewhere else and they might not be so tepid when it comes to shooting first.

Swap militia for US army, swap the town name for some countries name and hey presto, this is how america starts in other countries.

Now all the commenters, your comments here are what the rest of the world say about america.....
That and the whole country appears to be full of redneck shit kickers that love war mongering.
