The nice thing about the term Daesh is that is loosely translates to "those bastards".

As for "progress" being against it is really determined by how you define your endgame.For instance, Daesh are making "progress" towards their caliphate.

As well with "freedom." Daesh is working for a Caliphate where they are free to do as they wish withing the scope of their religious laws.
