If you're in the US you should probably know this. While the conservatives are taking about activist judges due to the marriage equality case, they're noticeably silent on the erosion of the Constitution here.

Today's #TheMoreYouKnow

The police now have the right to search your home without obtaining a warrant first. A Supreme Court ruling earlier this month says that if you're arrested or detained and removed from your home, that's now the same as being "absent" which means police can now enter your home and search, even if you don't give consent. Don't take my word for it though. Here's the dissenting opinion from Justice Ginsburg :

“Instead of adhering to the warrant requirement,” Ginsburg said, “today’s decision tells the police they may dodge it, never mind ample time to secure the approval of a neutral magistrate.”

She added that the ruling, “shrinks to petite size our holding in Georgia v. Randolph.”
