I remember when this was announced and some naysayers (read: generals and colonels and military strategists) claimed an "all purpose" aircraft was a bad idea and others said this will revolutionize air warfare.

Well, I guess losing is revolutionary for American pilots.

Reports like this have been gaining attention for a while. All-purpose is not the way to go.

They would have been much better off designing individual aircraft for each separate branch. Now the USAF is going to be saddled with an aircraft that for all intents and purposes has no gun system (yes....I know it has a gun, but it's going to be pretty much useless).
