Found a micro SD card, 4gb, in the parking lot. I wonder what's on it...

I know, Jeremy Pullicino. Hence my hesitation.

Let's hope, David Kutcher. But not weird porn.

I don't know what that means, Jeremy Pullicino. Is that a special software or something?

Assume someone trying to hack you.
Use an isolated box to check the card.... not connected to your home network or the internet. That way if there is something nefarious on it, you won't be responsible for it getting out...

You guys are taking all the fun out of it. Risk is where the excitement is. :P

It's just an SD card, not a USB flashdrive, so there's no real danger.  Just make sure your computer doesn't have any autorun BS enabled, and plug it in.

Adventure, but use the isolated box if there are pictures of naked children even though it is not your memory stick just the possesion of it will send you to jail.
I have a friend that went to jail because his son had a stick he found with child sex on it. He went to jail on two counts kicking his 16 year old son's  ass for having that, and then for having a PC at his house with child porn (since his son down loaded the damn thing on his PC)
he spent 4 years in jail and now has to register as a sex offender his son was a minor, no jail time but is on probation ( his son thought it was funny till his dad kicked his ass and now he has to live with his mom.

That's truly fucked up.  Is this someone you know in person?
Michael Meyer said…
Irreverent Monk Yes we worked together at NHBB inc in Chatsworth. thats in Los Angeles County but the law is the same if any of your teenage children have any type of child porn content and the  computer is in your house you can or will get in trouble for it. if he had another computer at his moms house she would have been in trouble too.. Unfortunately you have to be aware of the content on your children's PC. This also include someone you dont know emailing you pictures. If you get an email like that look at it in the trash bin is your safest bet. then you can say you were trashing and never down load it and you dont know the person and you still willl get some heat

And here I was thinking it just fell out of someone's phone or something.

What about taking it for a look on an airgapped Chromebook or a unconnected no Sim Android phone? Or just chuck it, even better...

Wow I can't decide if you found Pandora's Box, or an SD card ...

Jon Mallin, I don't have a Chromebook but I do have an older Android I thought about using.

Theresa Reel, me neither.

Jason ON I would say 90% someone just dropped it. Probably full of music or Photo's to print at Kinko's..... bummer if it was late filing for there taxes. or a book they were working on......
Jason ON usually, the deleted files are more interesting than the ones you see at first (there is a reason why they would be deleted). To recover these files, use software like this: http://www.easeus.com/data-recovery/card-recovery-software/sd-card-recovery-freeware.htm
