Kinda glad my family doesn't do the family picture thing.

So we have this whole anti-bullying spiel where we tell all the kids everything's going to get better, meanwhile people that are mostly forced to partake in walking through a Walmart are virally tortured online non-fucking-stop.

I didn't click because the headline pissed me off.

Anti-Walmart posts: appropriate awesomesauce.

Anti-Walmart-shopper posts: bullish classicism joyrides.

No thanks.

FYI, this link actually has nothing to do with Walmart but instead makes fun of people's weirdness.

I'm sure I'm guilty of it to some degree; I'm not trying to pretend to be above picking on people. However, the bullying of the underprivileged Walmart shoppers is one internet meme I've denounced since I first saw it. It's worse than discriminating against a single minority group... it's the discrimination of the entire potpourri of who we all are, based on their poor financial situations, poor fashions, poor health, and poor geographic locations.

(ETA: Let's put a Walmart in Ethiopia so we can start making fun of them again, right?)

The meme is sickening.

But we've always got to find someone worse off than ourselves to pick on to make ourselves feel better - oh, wait... no, we really don't.

+trench coat Being on the south side of the poverty line really doesn't explain what ends up on peopleofwalmart.com

If you look in your closet and your choices are jeans and sweatshirt or this:

I'm going to laugh at you, regardless what public place you've walked into. This guy probably isn't better or worse off than me. Hell, he put a lot of time, effort, and money into that outfit. That doesn't make it any less ridiculous or chuckle worthy.

And there's picture after picture of "What were you thinking when you stepped out of the house?"

I think the simpler answer is many people don't give a crap what they look like walking into a Walmart or dress specifically to get the reaction.

I know I don't care. It's Walmart, after all.

Alice Cabrera I never said it isn't mean.

So there's a difference between being mean and bullying, eh?

Right. Have fun with that bit of semantic-laden hypocrisy....
