Why is special treatment given to dogs, and not other animals that are farmed for meat? Is it because we keep dogs as pets?  Is it because they are smart?  Well, pigs are just as smart, and some people keep them for pets.  Yet aside from PETA, nobody's giving two shits about how they are treated in slaughterhouses.

So it's the basic "Pets Vs. Food" mentality then.  Personally - I don't get the discrimination.  You either eat meat, or you are appalled at how badly all animals are treated.

Dogs and man have been coexisting together long before pigs and cows became domesticated. Our histories are intertwined and some theorize that it was Homo sapien sapien's partnering with the dog that allowed us to become the dominant Homo sapien species on this planet.

I am appalled at how most animals are treated before becoming food, Dmitriy Briskin and advocate for more humane treatment all the time. 

Muslims don't eat pork. The christian Bible precludes anyone from eating a non-split hoofed animals. Indians don't eat cow and westerners don't eat dog.

I am not. You won't find me eating a lot of things. Not that I don't get outside of my comfort zone once in a while, but I don't eat dog, nor cat, nor bald eagle.

I'm shutting down Google+ for the night and quite possibly for the weekend. Why? This stupid #gifwars thing people are so proud of. This Adam Black guy said he doesn't like gifs and now everyone is mass trolling him. Having been mass trolled like this I can relate to him easily enough. Have an opinion and the collective might of Google+'s lower class denizens jump on a bandwagon. I just saw a post where someone wanted to jump on board and had to get clarification she was tagging the proper Adam Black. She wasn't even connected to him ! Nor was she a part of the original discussion. She just wanted to follow the herd. When I called her out of it she claimed, "one gif doesn't make a troll." Perhaps not, but she's contributing to a larger troll effort. One straw doesn't break the camel's back, but thousands will. So, tonight, Google+ disgusts me. It probably will tomorrow as well. And possibly Sunday. I gave up Google+ for two months this spring
