Mike Pence is either stupid or he believes the rest of the country is stupid. How can he honestly stand before the media and claim he didn't know this legislation would allow discrimination? Hell, people have been talking about this for weeks if not months. Rights groups, non-profits, secular lobbyists and many others have warned about the affects of this bill.
This bill was making headlines before he signed it and he signed it in a closed door private ceremony which indicates he knew of the controversy this bill would generate.
And now he wants to play the "I didn't know" card? No. He doesn't get to play ignorati. He knew exactly what he was doing when that bill made it's way through two GOP controlled congressional chambers and when he put pen to paper to make it a law.
The Indiana governor is just showing us how quickly he bends over for corporate interests. Salesforce, Angie's List, other governors and more have said they will no longer do business with Indiana and that's the driving force behind his sudden denial. Indiana doesn't want to lose out of business. He doesn't care about the GLBT community. He's not concerned that a Muslim might be denied service by a Christian or that an Atheist might not be able to rent a hotel room. He's interested in money.
