Last minute wedding cancellations are not uncommon: sometimes the couple realizes that they are simply not right for each other and fortunately catch things before the vows. But then there's the aftermath of cancelling accommodations, hall reservations etc. When Willie and Carol Fowler's daughter cancelled her wedding, they were faced with a similar situation. But instead of cancelling everything and losing their deposits, they did something unbelievable: they threw a party for those less fortunate.

The couple called called "Hosea Feed the Hungry," an organization that provides #homeless folks with services and resources. their daughter had volunteered at the nonprofit years earlier.

"It was a vision," Carol said of her husband's idea. "He said he had prayed on it during the night and God had directed him and that's what we were going to do."

Despite the organizations apprehension (at first they thought it was a joke) the Fowlers convinced them their offer was absolutely true. So on September 15th, 200 homeless women, children and families traveled by bus to the Villa Christina Caterers for a party like no other. Kids were treated to face painting and clowns while the adults got to relax and enjoy themselves for a little while.

The Fowlers encourage others to consider trying their idea the next time an event is cancelled: They pointed out that events are cancelled all the time and encouraged others to think about donating

"If you have cancelled an event, do not walk away. Pick up the phone and call your favorite charity and offer it to them," Carol says, "We're regular, working people and anybody can do this. This is not star stuff."

I heard this story yesterday and thought that it was pretty cool. Not many people would think to do something for the community like this but I guess there really are genuinely nice people that think of others.

This is a great way to put your money where your mouth is. I heard about this yesterday too, and thought these are nice people. I hope others will follow their example.
