Woo Hoo! We can carry switchblades in Colorado! Why were they banned in the first place? Well, Timmy, according to this article, it was because of a little musical called West Side Story that so scared Coloradans, and a whole host of other state legislatures, into banning the knife.

At that point in history, a lot of stuff that youth did was banned on general principles. I'm remembering how annoyed my dad was that the department of transportation banned putting a translucent purple dot on your brake lights, which looked really cool but was associated with teen auto enthusiast groups so was banned with very little rationale.

It's nice that states are finally removing these useless laws. Though you still have to look out for local county/city laws.

That said, I've got several automatic and spring-assisted pocket knives that I don't ever use anymore. They don't deploy any more quickly/easily than a standard thumb stud, flipper, or spydey-hole, and the spring makes the effort to close them one-handed much worse. And my laziness always wins out.

Aside from the coolness factor of having a blade that shoots out at the flick of a switch, so to speak, I don't really need a switchblade. I'm actually a huge fan of fixed blades, but those scare people and most places have some sort of 3" rule. Give me a good 8-10" full tang fixed blade and I'm happy.

I don't make a lot of personal posts so please bear with me. #Rufus hasn't been doing well for the past week or so. I mean, he's 13 (at least), and has slowed down due to age, but the past week or two he's been acting like every movement is a Herculean effort. A few times in the past couple of weeks his rear legs have given out on him completely to where I've had to pick him up and carry him which is, in itself, telling. Rufus has always hated being carried and struggled continuously when I did so. Yesterday while petting him I noticed two golf-ball sized things up under his chin. Now, they may be benign lipomas as Rufus is covered with them (one one each thigh, one on each shoulder, one on his chest and a few smaller bumps here and there) or they may be indicative of something else. I'm no vet and aside from emergency medic battlefield training I have no medical experience whatsoever, but these new things seem to be where your or mine lymph nodes are located....

In the United States and most western countries, Fido is a family companion and while it's not ethical to judge another culture by our standards, anyone who doesn't at least (humanely) butcher the animal first is acting without proper care. South Korea relies on western consumerism for their economy and needs to be aware that we do not accept the practice of skinning and boiling dogs alive. Originally shared by April Benney Over 6,000 restaurants in South Korea are still serving dog meat even though it is now illegal. In many Asian countries dogs are boiled alive or skinned alive when slaughtered. It's an unbelievably horrendous & torturous way to die. What's so innovative about the Apple Watch? What has Apple done since the launch of the iPhone that was truly innovative? I read articles all he time about features this and software that, but I haven't seen anything where it was definitively proven where Apple has been cutting edge for years. christopher rizzo called me a troll for questioning his religious adherence to Apple consumerism.  So, can someone explain where Apple is truly innovative?
