A couple of days ago I went to a #CoryGardner townhall here in the Denver Metro area and watched as a disbelieving #Republican senator couldn't wrap his head around the idea that many people in the room believed the #GOP to be racist in nature.

Rich white people in Denver could probably manage to make it through their whole lives without seeing racism in action.

Ive had that conversation with a friend (native Denverite) regarding racism here. It's much more subtle than in the south but it's here and quite vibrant. She told me the other day that she's starting to notice some "friends" giving off those subtle cues and was astounded at how many there were.

I think in much of the west these days racism is disguised as contempt for poverty, which just happens, because of a hundred years of concerted effort, to align very well with race. It's become a harder fight.
