Let's be real clear: a direct threat to a cop is illegal. Saying "cops suck" or "all cops are bastard" is opinion and therefore protected under free speech laws.

While many of these social media postings may result in arrests, it's highly likely they will not result in prosecutions. It really depends on the DA and the judges. And the defense attorney, of course.

But who needs their lives interrupted by an arrest, even if there's no successful prosecution? Say what you want to say online, just be careful his you say it.
