Interesting read. Though Decoration Day goes even further back than 1865, when southern women decorated graves of fallen confederate soldiers while the war was still young. I read this in another article somewhere when I was into history.

That's alright Jason is racist and cares only about hatred for all Americans and American heritage. Really doesn't matter it's all about hatred for Jason !

Jason is the least racist person he knows. Jason cares about the truth. And the truth is black Union soldiers started what we now call Memorial Day.

Fascinating read. Thanks for sharing. Thankfully the human populations are becoming more & more aware of themselves & changing as best they can to realise a better future. It's not easy, nor has there ever really been easy solution. But I respect you immensely for exhibiting the ability to give respect to others you share the earth with. So rare in these Times to witness transcendence. Salute.

So you are intolerant to religions too ya that's some real transcendence and very respectful of good Abrahamic religious folks please lol

S rodden, you seem to be the only intolerant person here.

Um ya no Jason that's not true it's alright it's your wall no hard feelings now I like debates and most importantly clarity and truth in debate good talk
After reading the story it appears Jason ON  is disrespecting the people in Charleston that day by trying to pull the race card.  Those people were honoring what I suspect were mostly white dead soldiers who fought for freedom.  Trying to make claims about who was first is reprehensible when one ponders the true sacrifice of the soldiers.  The original message is about humans caring for one another, not about race.  So stop with your race baiting hatred, Jason and thanks for posting the story.

Just to be clear, Natural Ponds Lakes & Streams by Spring Creek Aquatic Concepts, I did not write the article. I merely passed it along. Oh, and history isn't race baiting. It's history.
The article was actually an op-ed piece.  My objection was your race baiting comment to a historical demonstration of appreciation between the races.
