I've read a couple of StarWars books about the ebony clad Sith Lord, none of them truly doing the character justice.

In The Rise of Darth Vader we should have seen the tortured soul of Anakin Skywalker as he held on to his Jedi training while trying to reconcile those with his becoming a Sith Lord. But we didn't. Instead we got a very boring one-dimensional look at the Sith apprentice that was lackluster at best.

In Lords of the Sith we did delve a little deeper into the psyche of Vader and got to see a little more interplay between apprentice and master. We also got to see the full power of the former Jedi. Had the book been written from an Imperial POV instead of a budding rebellion's it might have been much better.

Here's to hoping Rogue One properly sets up the mythic status Vader attains while properly conveying the awe and fear his mere presence inspires.
