I've been telling people ever since the Hobby Lobby decision that had this SCotUS been sitting a hundred and fifty years ago slavery would have been decided as completely Constitutional. If religious freedom means the right to discriminate against any one particular group of people for any perceived violation of their religious dogma, then it surely supports the religious right to own slaves and enslave minorities.

Oh yeah, I know all about Dred Scott. The difference being, Dred Scott was based, not on religious "freedom," as this current court loves but on race and legality of territories versus states.

Religion is a extremely effective tool used to help people lives. But in Religions is also the ability to Control people and it does not take much to twist religion into justifying bad actions and ideologies. especially if the followers are uneducated. Islam is a prime example of uneducated followers several of the Christian evangelists are other prime examples of control over peoples lives.
The history of the world in the last 3000 years every religion and philosophy has been twisted to favor one person or groups of people and if you take religion away there will be another tool invented by man to control other men. his is similar to what Fredric Nietzsche wrote about.
