Do you ever feel like you have to dumb yourself down in order to have other people understand you?

yep and if I don't they complain too much info, they fail to grasp most of what I say and fail to see larger pictures via details. They can't make the connections.

I think you hit the nail on the head: they can't make connections that (we) easily see.

Constantly. And it usually results in complaints about feelings being hurt when truth is expressed.

Yes. And that is the frustrating part. If they can't keep up with my complexity, then their brains are to broken or weak to understand. Sometimes I don't bother.

I would have to but I don't. INTJ problems.

Tess Ellation INTJs are brutally honest so they don't have to lower themselves. They just insult people's ignorance and that person thinks twice before questioning them.
Raymond Martin said…
Mario Bonanno INTJs are quite arrogant actually. They perceive ignorance in others when it is usually in themselves.
Hybrid Spektar said…
Raymond Martin Precisely. They do portray arrogance, but they don't see it as arrogance.
Tess Ellation said…
I am just perceived as arrogant. As a teacher, I have become quite tolerant of others.
Tess Ellation said…
Raymond Martin I exude confidence. Is that not acceptable?
Hybrid Spektar said…
Tess Ellation When I think of an INTJ, I think of Dr. Gregory House. Has little to no friends, extremely intelligent, brutally honest when something is done wrong, or seems illogical, and dislikes having to explain why he got to his conclusions. However, as you said, you are more tolerable of people. Usually INTJs get severely impatient when it comes o people who's intelligence is sub par to  their own.
Raymond Martin said…
Tess Ellation Arrogant people can't see they are arrogant, and think themselves only confident. This has been my experience with the majority of INTJs.
Raymond Martin said…
What is more. INTJs have a very hard time seeing when they are wrong. Despite the claim of superior intelligence for INTJ in MBTI circles, I have encountered very few that have really high intelligence. Average and above to some extent, but not at the top.
Raymond Martin said…
Consider the Dunning-Kruger effect. Highly "confident" people tend to fall on the lower side of intelligence. Really intelligent people have a more restrained confidence. So I would have to say quite a few "supposed" INTJs are on the lower end of that scale.

Raymond Martin INTJs are extremely confident. Thats what makes them what they are. They are confident they are right, and are not afraid to show that they are. INTPs are less confident. We always over think everything because we feel there is something we missed. INTJs however, when they are sure they are right, they are right, And theres nothing you can say to them, without them using their facts to completely cut you down to prove they are right. While their arrogance may actually be their biggest flaw, their confidence might as well be their biggest advantage.
Raymond Martin said…
Mario Bonanno that just shows they fall under the Dunning-Kruger effect to me. Many times I have made "INTJs" butthurt by pointing out flaws in their reasoning. They have been very confident in their attacks on me for being right.
Hybrid Spektar said…
Raymond Martin Could you explain the Dunning-Kruger effect? From what I can deduce its using someones own intelligence against them. Sounds like ENTPs logic bombs. But of course I could be wrong.

Mario Bonanno I completely understand your interpretation of INTJs. I'm sure you also know how we have the capability to strive for self-improvement. I may not be the top in my field but I am exceptional, nonetheless.

As for House, I can identify with him. He can be a bit exaggerated. For example, I invite and encourage my students to find my mistakes. After all, mathematics can be meticulous. There was a time when I would become quite tyrannical and assumed questions to be a struggle for dominance. Now, I take a deep breath and admit my mistakes.
Hybrid Spektar said…
Tess Ellation Completely understandable. As an INTP I do my best to make sure my thoughts are concise. I fear of explaining something an explaining it wrong. But usually never get a chance or kill the thought  expressing before it takes root.
Tess Ellation said…
Mario Bonanno I get along well with INTPs. They help bring out my silly side. I just don't understand why they want to leave the tv on all the time.
Hybrid Spektar said…
Tess Ellation I'm friends with a few INTJs. They are interesting people
Tess Ellation said…
Mario Bonanno I am an acquired taste.
Hybrid Spektar said…
Tess Ellation INTJs are amoung the few types I get along with. I'm best friends with INFP, which to my knowledge and experience, are compatible with INTPs.
The word simplify seems a better choice. A friend of mine is quite attached to clarity of grammar, and helps me understand neurotypical protocol to the best of his ability. Nonetheless, I consistently have situations when a "less IN" person asks me a question and then gets impatient with the beginning of my response, resulting in what I perceive as an Orwellian seeming denial of my true voice.

I had an ex girlfriend like that, B. Nick. Always impatient as I tried explaining my perspective.
