When I was in Florida in July my brother told me it was better to not get involved when you see something happen. He tried to argue that it was better for your personal safety if you just let the police take care of it.

I argued otherwise: that each and every one of us has an inherent responsibility to act when we see wrongs being committed.

I think Antonio Diaz Chacon would agree with me and there are people in that girl's family who are glad he didn't decide to stand by and wait for the police to handle the situation.
