I agree. There is no reason for the dog to be chained up, but it's still fun to watch the interaction between the two.

I thought he was tied up to prevent a chance flattening of the kitten. Looks like a basement or a garage. There could be a hundred scenarios for the situation.

I don't agree with the way 90% of people treat their dogs and many people don't agree with how I treat Rufus, but I didn't see anything here to alarm me.

Relax. :) The kitten's body language does not indicate in any way that he is terrified. For the length of the video its tail, his back, his ears and his stance is perfectly telling that he feels no threat. And, there is no way a cat terrified of anything would stick around for a head-to-head challenge against something that big and that loud.

A cat who is scared would be crouched in defense. It would have it's tail tucked and puffed with its ears pinned back and if/when standing his back arched, hair standing up as well as he would be swiping or even possibly turned on his back to reveal his hind claws. No he wouldn't turn his back, he would be walking backwards keeping his eye on the potential threat. I think you are WAY misunderstanding what this cat is experiencing. Respectfully, although you may have had a cat this is a clear and classic example of how kittens play. If you replaced that dog with another cat or kitten that is exactly how they would interact if they were interact without making contact.
