I'm not sure who's more wrong here, the company that used this person's code to justify no longer needing the position or the coder letting the company fail due to a kill switch. I'm also not up to date on my legal Mumbo-Jumbo so I can't speak to the legality of what the coder is presenting, but I'm sure that doesn't bar the coder being sued (should they discover this) with a costly defense.

A smart corporate lawyer will point to to the lack of ToS and demand financial reparations.
He thinks he patented source code. The company made a lot of mistakes, but I'm pretty sure their lawyers can still find a way to chew him up and spit him out.
