I'm at one of those theaters where you purchase your exact seat. Only seat available was in the front row so I asked the cashier if I could get a discount for such a lousy location. She said she could ring me up as a child.

WooHoo! I saved $1.50!

Seeing a movie on opening night isn't important any more thanks to digital projectors, the Last playing is as good as the first.

I'd much rather watch new movies on the Tuesday afternoon after opening weekend, if I can swing it. You're generally guaranteed to see less than 15 other people in the theater.

There are very few movies I like to see opening day and #StarWars is one of them.

I would have paid extra for a center-front row seat, especially for IMax. I love having my entire visual field taken up.

Lorne Thomas Seeing a movie on opening night isn't important anymore due to the proliferation of really large-screen TVs and Bit Torrent Netflix.

That said, I do like to watch big-budget special-effect films on 3D in a good theater (preferably IMax.) That's worth the price of admission to me. I saw John Carter that way, and whatever you may think of the movie, the effects were damned impressive (and right out of Burroughs novels, the translation to film was incredible.)
