New shoes!

New shoes! Picked them up yesterday while the weather wasn't too bad. Metzler Z6's that were on an incredible sale. Probably because the Z6's are being replaced by the Z8's and they're cleaning out inventory.

This photo is after the bike was rolled out of the garage, but before I had even put 100ft on the new rubber.

In the past I've loved Pirelli Stradas, which were replaced by the Angels (which I'm coming off of and not a fan of) so I'm hoping for good results with the Z6's: http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=b19e6413844ad94af22abd916b71b52f;topic=14464.0

Take it easy till the tyres are scrubbed in.
I know you probably know this but it sometimes can be forgotten.

Oh, I did. Had a thirty mile ride home on cold pavement. Even though it was just above 60°F yesterday, the roads were still cool.

Not sure about Metzler Jason, got them on my Triumph came as standard wether it's cooler roads in the UK but I never feel as sure as When running on Bridgestone tyres just my thoughts but hey enjoy the new rubber

I've used many tires from both Metzeler and Pirelli but lean towards Metzeler. Did you know that Pirelli is owned by Metzeler? I understand about your lack of feel for one of them; I will never use Avon tires again for similar reasons...Careful with the rear Z6 as you put miles on them - the center has no tread and will unexpectedly run out of life on you!
I had Metzelers on my K16GTL, awesome ties. Wear out quick tho. Outstanding wet weather traction

Reviews on various sites had these Z6s getting between a measly couple thousand miles all the way up to 15k. My Pirelli Stradas would easily get between 12k and 15k on average. I'm hoping for the higher side, but if they don't run long then I won't feel too bad considering the cost.

John Lintner, yes, I did know Pirelli owned Metzler. It's one of the reasons I'd hoped the Z6s would be similar to the Stradas.

Jason ON - "Your mileage May Vary"...Some of the local/close crowds I stay in touch with (same model bike too) seem to get very different life out of the same tires. I've tracked the mileage on my bike since new and Metzeler Z4/Z6 tires have given me the best mileage on average. Others have come close but Metzelers have been the most consistent for me. And I mean ME. Other buddies with the same bike get drastically different mileage and all I can say is there are too many variables: Road surface/condition, typical loaded weight, season/temperatures, and riding styles can really alter the results. You'll have to compare their life to other tires YOU'VE had for a true comparison. Tire feel/handing/confidence are what you should focus on, with mileage being secondary.

I hope you enjoy the Z6s, and look forward to your impression of them!
