Pretty soon Disney will ensure your children don't believe Leia was ever in a golden bikini.

Pretty soon Disney will ensure your children don't believe Leia was ever in a golden bikini. It wouldn't surprise me if they try and "digitally alter" RotJ.

I honestly wouldn't care if they didn't continue with the bikini sex slave costume, and I've been a huge star wars lover my entire life. It's contextually blah, and overrated. Not to mention, do we really need new action figures with it? Just retire it, and the rest increase in value as collectors edition.

It's not about the slave girl outfit or the action figures, it's about Disney sanitizing Disneyfying the Star Wars universe.

Jason ON To be completely fair, Lucas started Disneyfying Star Wars long before Disney took over.

Han shot first!

It's not about Disney at all. It's a global shift away from her constantly being shown as sex slave Leia. Even the article you posted talks about the general public wanting badass Leia and not slave Leia

Dmitriy Briskin, yes he did, but that was outside of the purview of this conversation since, at the time, Disney and Lucas were not collaborating.

It is, Tiffany Elle, because it's history being sanitized. No one doubts Leia was a badass. She was a strategist, spy, politician, almost always made the right decisions in action and single handedly shot more Storm Troopers than any other character in the (canon) Star Wars universe. What Disney is doing is re-imagining the character as someone who is infallible. The whole scene at Jabba's palace was to emphasize that even the best people in the galaxy are sometimes not good enough. Han was encased in carbonite, Chewbacca was captured, the droids were gifted to a crime lord. How far must all the characters fall? You take the most badass and you strip her of her armor, her tools, her rank. What else could go wrong?

Enter the Jedi.

It should be noted that even in her golden bikini Leia was still capable of killing Jabba and destroying his barge.
