Marvel had the correct vision from the get go.  Fans had long hoped for a "shared univesre" bunch of films.  Last time we had anything like that was the old monster flicks where Dracula, the Wolfman, and Frankenstein were all in films together.  Marvel tested the waters with Ironman and people loved the idea.  It really captured people's imaginations and made people want to know what was going to happen next.

Can Marvel change Hollywood?  Nah.  DC/Time-Warner is poising to shoot itself in the foot.  There's not much demand for franchise pictures outside of comic book stuff.
