Wow. As you can clearly see in the video, the driver has ample time and room to pass the riders.

These guys are nicer than I am, too. I would have jutted out in front of the Explorer and stopped to confront him. I'm confrontational and all.

What an asshole! I hate idiots like that. I hope the driver is tracked down and ticketed. He's a dangerous driver.

I've been harassed on my motorcycle, but never like this.

I've had cars beep behind me and it pisses me off. It startles me and there is no reason to do it. Which is why they do it I'm sure. Oh look how funny it is to make the girl on the scooter jump! hahaha. I'd like to dick punch them.

Wouldn't a roll of quarters be better for punching?

either that or the chain I keep in reach right through their windshield.

Stephen Dickson   Some cyclists can be annoying too but still, it's a battle between a ton of vehicle against an exposed rider. Is there really that much cred to be gained by mowing them down?

I ride a motorcycle and I can't tell you how many times we are behind cyclists on the mountain roads who are riding three or four wide, coming far into the lane against state law that requires bikes to ride single file. It's annoying, but we just pass them and move on. We don't ride behind them harassing the riders with our horns.

Heck I walk behind people on sidewalks that walk in groups across the whole walkway making it impossible to pass by their slow asses but I don't scream at the top of my lungs for them to get the fuck out of the way. At least not out loud.

Thinking doesn't cause a unsafe situation.

Thinking isn't action.

In Colorado it's legal to ride two people wide if you're not impeding the flow of traffic, which is defined as when a rider notices that traffic is being held up, at which point you're supposed to ride single-file.  Cars have to hold a three-foot clearance when passing.  So while I'm all for cyclists, if there's a car behind them and they know it, they're obligated to get out of the way.

I was more responding to some of the comments in this thread.

Huh.  On looking at the car and the description of the guy, I think I've encountered him -- or at least an older guy driving an Explorer in Boulder County, two of the guys I ride with, and I, had a discussion that involved me getting out the printed colorado uniform motor vehicle law section on bicycles and offering to show it to him, at which point the discussion went downhill and he drove off in a huff.  It wasn't this bad, though.

So, yeah, this is a road I ride twice a week, and on returning to work after my time off, my coworkers were all "hey did you see that video?"  We have three people who think they recognize him/can do a visual ID based on our hostile interaction at the same place six months ago, and are going in to chat with the police on Tuesday.
