Why do people always think their selfish interests outweigh everyone around them's interests?
Why do people always think their selfish interests outweigh everyone around them's interests? Why are the people who are more fearful of the world around them catered to by everyone else?
I think there's a larger thought here, but I don't know enough about psychology of the individual and psychology of the group to bring the two together.
It's been proven that some people live their lives in a constant state of fear. Fear of the outside, fear that everyone is out to get them, fear that the universe is working against their family. Psychologists have studied this and proven that those with a conservative mind-set are those who are more fearful of the world around them, unwilling to step outside of their cosm, held back by their fear.
And yet, somehow, it's those of us who don't live in perpetual fear of the world who have to cater to those who do. Why is that? Why are we the ones who play their role of bad guy when their concerns aren't met and yet we're the understanding ones when they can't, or won't, respect our concerns?
Anywho, it's just a thought.
