This is extremely troubling and can serve only one purpose: to separate detainees from the media. Military bases are closed affairs. Sure, some people can come and go, but the media does not have that freedom. Neither do other investigators such as NGOs, international aid groups or UN inspectors. And yes, the base commander has the final say on what happens on his or her base, but who does the base commander report to? Ultimately, it's the commander-in-chief, and as the article quotes, there's little to no push back expected from flag officers.

In #TrumpNation, #TrumpsHotels will be the new concentration camps.

That's the first thing I thought when I heard they were moving these internment camps to military bases, that they would stop any oversight, visitation by NGOs, etc., basically in an effort to hide the inhumanity.

I'm trying conceptually to differentiate between asylum seekers ending up confined on military bases indefinitely with hostages... When will the U.S. begin making the ransom demands or is that just implicit?

Jon Mallin I'm waiting for the day when Trump decides military bases aren't the right places and so he sends them to Gitmo.

A Republican claimed on CNBC last week that this had been common practice under Obama and that he had been sent away when he wanted to inspect one such camp. The studio reporter took most claims for granted and didn't question them.

Jason ON will they still do the hummus packed in the ass thing or choose a different cuisine based on cultural stereotyping?
