Nick McIntosh I like Hangouts too, but it seems bloated and slow most of the time. Also, many of my friends and family don't use it, so I have to use SMS.

For example, some friends and I were having an exchange recently on FB. I said I'd prefer any method over the 'book: email, Hangouts, Allo, etc. They chose email. I'm glad we have a record of the discussion, but even though they were on Android, they chose anything but a Google service. This goes for my family - all of them. No one uses Hangouts but me and a couple of friends.

Ah. My experience differs in two major ways:

I'm on Project Fi so hangouts is still integrated for me. Without looking I can't tell you who I communicate with via SMS vs the Hangouts service.

A great many of my friends use Hangouts by default as well, so it makes it pretty simple.

Now to be completely fair, if they can make Messages as fully featured as Hangouts, I wouldn't be opposed to trying it.

Jason ON Bill of Goods. We have it. Thats a threat to take away what we already have again.

Google Messenger / Gtalk had that capability over a decade ago! Then they took it away and the only way to get it back was adding a Google Voice number to your account.

BIg Pain n the ass;

But I now can SMS from desktop using both Google Voice / Hangouts and Gmail again.

This is a threat to take that all away and offer an inferior replacement ( again ).

Did you read he part that it was a Billed service , this would route messages through your phone you would get text message rates from your cell service?

Jason ON Because the Features exists, and you can use it.

Most people were Bullshit over the Dis Integration. Its win-win for you, since you didnt like its implementation.

GV calling and SMS texting are still Features in Hangouts but They removed the Integration between these features.

JUst try and see it how it works.
The SMS messages will not be combined with Hangout Text Threads.
( or Google: "hangouts Removes SMS integration" Plenty of bullshit thinkpieces on it.

I'm shutting down Google+ for the night and quite possibly for the weekend. Why? This stupid #gifwars thing people are so proud of. This Adam Black guy said he doesn't like gifs and now everyone is mass trolling him. Having been mass trolled like this I can relate to him easily enough. Have an opinion and the collective might of Google+'s lower class denizens jump on a bandwagon. I just saw a post where someone wanted to jump on board and had to get clarification she was tagging the proper Adam Black. She wasn't even connected to him ! Nor was she a part of the original discussion. She just wanted to follow the herd. When I called her out of it she claimed, "one gif doesn't make a troll." Perhaps not, but she's contributing to a larger troll effort. One straw doesn't break the camel's back, but thousands will. So, tonight, Google+ disgusts me. It probably will tomorrow as well. And possibly Sunday. I gave up Google+ for two months this spring
