The other day I posted about how #TrumpNation was hitting red states' economies first, but now those policies are hitting other multi billion dollars industries.

Protip: when you're entire economy is based on consumerism, you spent decades reducing the power of the consumer and then alienate foreign money from "investing" in your economy you're probably going to implode financially. But hey, #DonaldTrump didn't file multiple bankruptcies for making good business decisions, did he?

It's hard to appear welcoming when you're not

The travel industry is reporting a significant slump in business, in terms of folk visiting the United States.

And, frankly, I can't blame them. If I came from anywhere in the world that the new GOP Administration might think meant I was a terror suspect -- most likely by skin color, by proximity to Evil, Dangerous Countries, or if I had ever visited such places, or had relatives who had, or people with similar names had -- I would steer clear of a US vacation (or business travel visit, for that matter).

(Anecdotally, I was talking with someone from a software company here in Denver the other day; they recently went to an offshore model for staff supplement, but are having "problems" getting folks from India to come over here for visits. He didn't specify if it was problems from the US government side, reluctance from the India side, or a combination of both.)

Heck, even if I were a fair-skinned blond Anglo-Saxon type, I'd still be apprehensive about visiting the US. Aside from the image being projected -- protesters at airports, "carnage" in the streets -- the actions of Trump and his GOP Congress are impossible to predict, but would seem likely to make visits riskier than before.

And if this keeps up, it's going to get worse, not better. People still have reservations and tickets for Walt Disney World that they've already paid and planned for. They're still coming over, most likely. As it comes time to start plan 2018's travel ... where are folk going to be more likely to go?

Any reason not to trust their position on this, or are you only interested in questioning the source?
