I don't use iTunes. Never have, in fact. So, I can't say for certain how accurate this is, but I'm willing to guess it's fairly accurate.

I have never used it either but have had to work on computers with it installed, my daughter's included.  What a piece of bloatware and resource hog.

I've never had trouble with it. The most bloated thing for me over the past decade was Chrome.
I used it when it first came out(before there were ipods) and it sucked so badly that I never bothered after that. And then when all my friends started complaining about it, it merely confirmed what I had learned previously.

I surmise it works differently on PC than Mac, much like IE for Mac was extra horrible. Some updates have been better than others, but I've never noticed an appreciable difference in terms of what it consumes.
I used it on both and it sucked for both.

As it never did for me, I am not unique, and it's still around, I am willing to assume it isn't a cut-and-dried matter. Most things aren't, of course.
Maybe you don't have the high standards some of the rest of us have. I only know I've had to wipe it from all the machines where I used to work and several clients' machines over the years due to complaints. That's Mac and PC.
