This is my new nephew born of C Section about an hour ago.

This is my new nephew born of C Section about an hour ago. His father, my youngest brother, is a first time dad as of today. The mother (a girl I've never met) was having blood pressure issues thus necessesitating the surgery.

The baby, Gavin Richard 'ON', is having lung problems and is on oxygen as well as an IV.

He is about 10 days early.

I don't know what sort of 'lung issues.' I'm getting all my info either on SMS, MMS or email and so far everyone's being vague.

He is in Tampa, FL.

He's awfully cute. 10 days early isn't too bad. They just want to make sure his lungs have developed enough to take oxygen on their own. Congrats on being an Uncle, Jason.

I've already been an uncle, Christina Bradley. This is just another addition to the stable. ;)

He's beautiful!! My grandson was born under the exact same circumstances and had the exact same complications. He was transferred to the NICU in Orlando and they were amazing!! He's 18 weeks old now and you'd never know he had any problems!! God bless all of you!!

Jason ON your nephew is beautiful! I'm sure he will be fine. My thoughts are with your family. I know it's scary when baby isn't "perfect" in health. My Samantha was wisked away from me hours after birth because her blood sugar was low. She was in the NICU for 3-1/2 days on an IV. Very hard for a parent to see their baby like that no matter what's wrong. I'm sure your brother & sister-in-law are scared but thinking positively. Christina Bradley is right...10 days isn't too bad I at all.

Rumor has it he's going home tomorrow.
Once he started breathing on his own the doctors pronounced him good.

Also, I learned today his due date was officially changed from 'late February/early March' to February 20, so apparently he was on time.

He is absolutely adorable. Gotta love how the little things bring life into perspective.

he could have respiratory distress which Owen had because he was 4 weeks early. Just a generic term to cover  problems with lungs not being totally ready. Oxygen just helps until their lungs catch up. He looks cute, especially for a newborn!

My brother is an RN so I'm sure he could explain it better. My mom's been keeping me updated and she's not exactly the most knowledgeable person.

Apparently, young Gavin also had some blood sugar issues and had to remain in the hospital through the weekend. According to my mom he's going home today.
