I am an INTP and this is so true:
INTPs are analytical and thoughtful individuals who prefer to work alone and who are often ill at ease in social situations. They are impatient with hierarchies and politics and would prefer that leaders prove their worth with merit, rather than with charisma and influence. Although they are not particularly social, they do have razor sharp wit (and claws), and are often surprised to learn that people do enjoy their company.

How do stack up on a standard Five Factor Personality Inventory?
http://www.personal.psu.edu/j5j/IPIP/ipipneo120.htm
It is Judging versus Perceiving
This fourth preference pair describes how you like to live your outer life--what are the behaviors others tend to see? Do you prefer a more structured and decided lifestyle (Judging) or a more flexible and adaptable lifestyle (Perceiving)? This preference may also be thought of as your orientation to the outer world.
Everyone takes in information some of the time. Everyone makes decisions some of the time. However, when it comes to dealing with the outer world,
People who tend to focus on making decisions have a preference for Judging because they tend to like things decided.
People who tend to focus on taking in information prefer Perceiving because they stay open to a final decision in order to get more information.
IMHO, it's the worst named and least intuitive (HA!) of all of the pairs.
I'm a pretty strong Perceiver, and my way to look at that is that the actual number, by itself, interpreted by the lab tech on the spot is meaningless without the larger context of my health picture that my doctor has, and the lab tech doesn't. While I like knowing the actual number, and I like being an informed consumer of medical services, it doesn't bother me at all that I have to wait to get "the answer" from my doc later in the week. That gives my doc time to get the results back (officially) from the lab, and examine that piece of evidence within the scope of all the other information that my doc has about me.
Perceivers remain open to the final decision in order to get more information. =)
