Did Trump simply conflate something he had read in an interview or heard on a newscast with his conversations with Putin? It is distressing if so, and reminiscent of claims that President Reagan confused his war movies with actual service. But Trump has offered conflicting and false accounts of his interactions with Putin before, claiming that they had a great relationship and then later saying they had never spoken.

A lot of articles are floating around right now about the "Comey memos" but this one had the above paragraph and I think it sums up nicely how many of us view this president: unhinged from reality. He's stated various things as irrefutable facts then we find out he's basing them on random comments, news articles or what passes for journalism over at Fox News. For example, he once said he and Putin were old friends because they met on a television show but then he admitted that while they were both on the same show they didn't actually meet in person or exchange dialogue with each other. And this has been his modus operandi that makes many of us question whether he's even in touch with reality or if he's like many elderly people struggle with dementia or alzheimers and "faking it."
