So, I came down to Koebel Library in Arapahoe County for their "Pop culture fest" called KoebelCon. I met an author, Jason Henderson, who writes young adult fiction who admitted, during our discussion, that he had two teenage girls at home.

"Why aren't you writing female leads then," I asked.

"I pitched that but the publisher wanted a male lead, but it's okay, lots of girls are reading them," he replied.

Then the conversation delved into an area he was obviously not wanting to talk about. Good for him for writing and being published, but as a father of two girls shouldn't he have pushed more for a female lead his daughters could look up to?

JasonHenderson.com is the author. Alex Van Helsing is the series.

Should he? That's a hard question to answer. It does seem that there is an opportunity there, which he may want to explore, and that much good could come out of it, but I'm not sure anyone can truly say what another person should do, without knowing the full context of their situation.
