Hey, WIRED, I fail to see how this "backfired big time." Could you have your writers be more clear on these claims? Thanks.

I think this is more likely the fault of an editor than a writer, but that doesn't make it any less obnoxious.

It's quite clearly explained. Cruz faced two protestors/brothers, which, as the writer says, "was a far cry from the warm welcome Bernie Sanders received ... where the only protesters I could find were a trio of animal rights activists."

See, one trio of animals rights protestors is different from two brothers. If you can't see that, I guess you don't "feel the Bern." /s

Bodhipaksa, how his visit "backfired" is no where explained. He's 'Ted' Cruz, everywhere he goes there's bound to be at least one protestor. Does that mean everywhere he goes is a "backfire?"

Obviously not. So, how is this different - a "backfire," if you will - than any other day in Cruz's life? Did the happenstance protestors turn the tables on him? Show is policies to be simple, naïve or flat out disastrous? Sid Cruz come to talk a out keeping immigrants out of America only to be found speaking to a group of immigrants? No. There was no "backfire" because no "fire" had been made.

I know. That was the point I was trying to make with my ridiculous comparison. Every politician meets protesters.

Ah, I didn't see the "/s." Sorry.
