Just got an email from myself trying to sell myself some roofing supplies? I don't even know. I reported myself for SPAM and then changed my password.

The trick of it is, though, it's the account I used to register my Apps account and it had a fairly decent password.

Guessing it's one that mimic legit email addresses. I get them from my old AOL account, to itself frequently. My passwords are pretty solid. Yes I have AOL (they are ancient accounts) but specially for sign ups and dumb stuff that I don't care get spammed. Keeps my Gmail free and clear.
It's trivial to fake the from address on emails. Unless you viewed the headers to verify this actually came from the servers your account is on, there is no reason to worry.

I didn't check the header before reporting myself. Maybe I'll remember to next time.

Yeah i highly doubt the account was compromised. More likely address spoofing.
